After spending a few years searching for that home, I finally found the perfect house – a fixer-upper located on Nantucket Sound. The house needed a lot of TLC but was right on the water and full of potential. That’s when I went back to my “dream house” folder and rediscovered my interest in Casabella. I began to stop by their shop to pick up small pieces, and when I was ready to conduct a formal remodel project, I invited Michele and Shannon out to the gutted house for an “ideas” session.
As we walked through the construction project, I could see Michele and Shannon understood my vision: a relaxed and beachy feel that could handle a lot of traffic while still looking beautiful. I have a large, extended family and wanted furniture that would make everyone feel at home, whether they were here for just a day or a week’s vacation. I needed the space to look great while accommodating sandy toes, wet bathing suits and the occasional spill.
Michele and Shannon spent time visualizing the space with me, looking through my beach house folder and my Pinterest “beach house” boards. I also had a houseful of furniture in storage during the remodel, so we went through my photos to be sure the new pieces I chose for the house would merge seamlessly with those I already had purchased.
During the decorating phase, I had to call on Michele and Shannon to help me with a major construction issue that arose with the home. It happened during the bathroom tile installation when, upon inspection, I realized I had a problem with some of the tile selections and the quality of the tile that was delivered. I called on Michele and Shannon to help and they quickly pulled together a beautiful selection of options that fixed the problem and better supported the overall design of the house.
After more than 14 months of renovation I was thrilled with my new home! Michele and Shannon helped me realize my dream and paid special attention to the little details that make a house a home. One example was a painting I had of a lighthouse I can see from my house. I loved the painting, but knew that the frame would not work in the newly remodeled home. When I walked into the new house, one of the first things I noticed was that Michele had reframed the painting and hung it in in a place of honor. There were many examples like that throughout the process – that level of thoughtfulness made Casabella my dream collaborators.
My job keeps me very busy, so it was a relief knowing I had Casabella curating and managing the entire decorating process for me. From tracking and warehousing all the furniture to going back and forth with the builder to bringing in all the professionals (electricians, painters, etc.), I honestly didn’t expect the concierge level of service they provided. It saved me a tremendous amount of time – and gave me great peace of mind.
I’m thrilled to be back at the beach I love so much – and now, thanks to Michele and Shannon, my home has truly earned its name: Granted Wish!
